Why Hulu Has Yet to Appear on Apple TV

Even though the Apple TV streaming device Apple TV already integrates Netflix directly into the firmware they have yet to release Hulu for their device.
Sources say that the Hulu Plus app has been running natively on Apple TVs for at least a month. Seth Weintraub (Apple New’s employee) says that there are no technical issues preventing the Hulu app’s release, and then goes on to say: “there appears to be some consideration that the Hulu Plus app could eat into iTunes TV sales.”
Both Hulu and Netflix stream movies and television shows, but only Hulu has a catalog of current, in-season episodes like iTunes. It’s possible that Hulu Plus subscribers would stop buying from iTunes if they had an easier way to access Hulu. A Hulu Plus app for iPad is already sold in the App Store, but it can’t beam its content to the Apple TV via AirPlay like many other apps.
Getting a Hulu app on the Apple TV would be a wall straining the company’s ability to expand its service beyond the computer space like Netflix.
Facebook’s iPad app was similarly delayed for months, with onlyrumors about its fate reaching the public. Last month, however, the app was finally released. Perhaps a similar behind-the-scenes boardroom tango is underway that will eventually result in the Hulu app’s release.
