Handling Problems with Compaq Laptop Batteries

Almost all Compaq laptop batteries are stored and shipped in semi-drained state in order to reduce any risk of damage and leakage. However, most laptop computers do not give a warning when it is low in battery. When they are plugged into the AC adapter, the laptop battery simply charges up. There could be a possibility that your laptop adapter or the power management subsystem built within the laptop computer is not doing good. You can try wiggling the AC plug a bit to check if the jack at the back of the portable computer is not loose. If the AC adapter is unusually warm when you touch it, you can try unplugging the AC adapter from the wall or outlet. Have it cool down and plug it back again. Try rebooting without the Compaq laptop battery and see if it will power on or even show when the AC adapter is plugged in.
