Cable and Satellite Companies Losing Subscribers

For years the cable and satellite TV providers had increased their subscriber base every year. One has to admit that they have done a great job promoting their products. Normally they offer a very low cost entry subscription fee for about a year, and that brings in the customers. After that the fees revert to the normal charges, and these can be high. My monthly satellite bill keeps creeping up, and it is now well over $100 per month.
Recently this has changed. The cable and satellite companies are losing more subscribers than they are gaining. I just read this morning that Dish Network lost over one hundred thousand in a month. Two reasons are cited for this. One is that people are saving lots of money and have started to watch live TV online free. Secondly, the poor economy has forced people to change their living habits. Many cannot afford the high charges of cable or satellite, so they watch TV on PC or their Mac instead.
