What’s the Deal with AGV Antivirus?
Posted at 6:22 am | Filed Under Software
It’s a big question, and is one that needs answering. AGV antivirus is one of the largest and most popular programs on the internet when it comes to virus protection. The program itself is a schedule based system scanner, that looks for traces of virus’s, Trojans, hijackers and all other persistent little creepy attack programs that run rampant through the internet to upset the unwary and that can ruin both your day and your computer. This is where having a program like AVG on your system comes in to block these troublemakers access to your system, and to protect you from them.
Like every other company known to man, however, AVG antivirus aren’t an altruistic company, they are in it to make money, and so they have different levels of protection available for you, with different cost levels as well. Most people know it for its basic download and coverage; however, that’s exactly what the free download is – basic. You have no in-depth protection – no firewall, no root-kit protection and a stream of others are all unprotected with the free download, so it can indeed become a costly exercise to have AVG antivirus on your PC. The main thing to remember is that the basic coverage does give you some protection.
Currently, however, AVG antivirus is offering what it calls its “trial pay” program, whereby if you sign up for a trial of their limited number of partners, you can download the latest and greatest version for free, once you’ve committed to the trial, which isn’t usually free at all, but with a little time awareness you can indeed sign up for a trial offer and download it for free, remembering what’s needed to be done about that trial offer itself. When the time comes and after you have your free download of the program.
So, is it worth it? Well, yes it is. Having only this as the coverage on one of my PC’s, I’ve had no major infections in 3 years (touch wood) on that PC, of any kind. Yes, I update daily and Yes, I scan daily (you can schedule these in for the times you want them to happen at), after each update so the AVG antvirus programs themselves seem to work admirably. So go ahead and get yourself the latest version for free using the trial program they have now, as it does work!
