If you enjoy watching movies at home, then home theater is for you-always supposing you have the cash. They are expensive but if this is your main source of entertainment and relaxation you may consider the expense well worth it. You could watch movies with just a television and a DVD player of course, but the experience can’t compare to what you could have.

For a really great home movie experience install the largest TV your room will allow. The plasma tvs are better for this type of home theater. Alternatively buy a screen and projector type of set up.These are excellent but most people do not have the space for a dedicated room for their home theater.

Watching movies has been referred to as ‘escapism’ as if that was naughty! However reading a book or going on vacation is also escapism which is defined as a ‘mental diversion’ in dictionaries. Diverting our minds through relaxing entertainment allows us to rejuvenate ourselves. It is a stress reduction center as well as an entertainment center and there is nothing wrong with stress reduction!

Once you have researched which tv to buy the next step is to decide where to place it. Unless you are fitting blackout blinds ensure you don’t set it up where the sun will cause glare. If you are going with plasma screen, as is best for a large screen HDTV, you will need to be especially careful about glare. The newest plasma tvs such as the Panasonic Viera plasma tv have anti glare screens fitted. Incidentally this TV come is screens up to 54″ diagonally.

Once you’ve settled the issue of the TV screen, you’ll need to decide the number of home theater speakers you want. Keep in mind the size of the room that you set up your home theater in.

Six speakers and a subwoofer for the best surround sound will make you think you’re inside a theater. Remember that speakers have a power rating that lets you know what kind of power you’ll get.

An important part of your home theater electronics system is the DVD player – most people are going with Blu-Ray technology these days. You’ll want to make sure you get the best for your home system so look for progressive scan capabilities.
